IPL 2021: “Slowly we are coming together as a team” – KL Rahul expresses satisfaction with win over MI
KL Rahul
Punjab Kings (PBKS) got a morale-boosting win today against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It was a comprehensive win for the KL Rahul-led side as they were excellent in all departments of the game against the defending champions. For Mi on the other hand, it was a wake-up call ahead of a long gap period before their next match on the 29th of April.
Earlier, PBKS came up with an excellent bowling performance that saw them keep nearly every MI batter at bay except skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. In the chase of 132, KL Rahul and his opening partner Mayank Agarwal got their side off to a flyer. After the latter’s dismissal, Chris Gayle got going after a bit of a lull. In the end, the chase was done in 17.4 overs as PBKS moved level on points with MI.
KL Rahul speaks on PBKS’ win over MI
KL Rahul was also adjudged the Man of the Match for his half-century and speaking about the win, he said, “We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves. Slowly we are coming together as a team. The guys we have backed are slowly coming through. We had heard that there was a lot of dew here. I felt like that could play a part. The drier ball started to grip, when it turns it gets really hard.”
Speaking about the good performances from Chris Gayle and Ravi Bishnoi, “It was good of Chris that he got through that period. He knew whom to target. That’s what you get with Chris, not just destructive batting but also experience of playing T20 cricket. He (Bishnoi) unfortunately missed the first few games, he’s worked with Anil bhai, he’s been brave. He held his composure. He came back today and the way he bowled was brilliant,” Rahul added.
PBKS will play Kolkata Knight Riders next on the 26th of April.
