IPL 2021: Mohammad Kaif wishes Shreyas Iyer a speedy recovery; expresses excitement about Rishabh Pant’s captaincy
Delhi Capitals assistant coach Mohammad Kaif took to Twitter to wish a speedy recovery to their regular captain Shreyas Iyer and also was excited to see Rishabh Pant upgrade his game while taking over the captaincy of the Delhi side.
In the absence of Shreyas Iyer ahead of IPL 2021, the franchise chose Rishabh Pant to lead the side as Shreyas Iyer will miss the tournament due to a shoulder injury. With Pant taking rapid strides in recent times, Mohammad Kaif backed him to do it further with the additional responsibility of captaincy.
Rishabh Pant has grown as a valuable cricketer for the Indian team as he has been a consistent performer in Tests. The left-handed batsman also played a key role in India’s victories in the limited overs series against England.

Mohammad Kaif took to his official Twitter handle to speak about Shreyas Iyer’s absence; however, he feels excited to see Rishabh Pant captain the side. Kaif believes that captaincy will allow the 23-year old keeper-batsman to take his game further forward and achieve a new level of consistency. Kaif, the assistant coach of the franchise, will have Ajay Ratra and head coach Ricky Ponting for compny in their quest to lift the Capitals one step further from last year.
The 2020 edition saw the Delhi Capitals reach the final for the first time; however, they lost to the Mumbai Indians comprehensively under Shreyas Iyer’s Captaincy last year.
