Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni returned to nets training in Chennai ahead of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although the franchise will play no matches at their home stadium, the training camp has been stationed in the city and hence, Dhoni joined the likes of Ambati Rayudu, Ruturaj Gaikwad, N Jagadeesan and the new Indian signings that were made at the auction.
CSK had a below-par IPL season last year as they finished 7th and outside the playoff spots for the first time ever in their history. The famed approach of taking chases deep and winning matches did not seem to work as the team suffered with inconsistency in all facets of the game. With the tournament now back in India, CSK would want to return to form and become the CSK of old.

According to reports from PTI, the nets session commenced only after all the players and staff cleared the COVID-19 tests while they were quarantining ahead of the same. New signing Harishankar Reddy who was a part of the session said, “The CSK players completed their quarantine requirements and began practice yesterday. Gradually, the others will join the camp after a period of quarantine.”
Meanwhile, CEO of CSK, Kasi Viswanthan confirmed that the remaining players will start arriving at the training sessions over the course of the coming few days.
IPL 2021 will kick off on April 9 with a match between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. CSK’s first match will be against Delhi Capitals on April 10.
