Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have not had a particularly excellent start to their IPL 2021 season. The defending champions were slow off the blocks as usual as they lost their first game before winning two in a row. Two losses that followed led to some concern but a win in the previous match has restored normalcy.

The win in the previous match was against Rajasthan Royals (RR) who were restricted to a score of 171 before the chase was aced with Quinton de Kock regaining form by bagging the Man of the Match. The win would hold them in good stead now for the all-important match against CSK today.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings have had a near-perfect start to the season this year. After losing their first game to Delhi Capitals (DC), it seemed like CSK could be in for another disappointing season like the 2020 one. However, what followed next has been simply top notch as the Men in Yellow have notched up five wins in a row.

Their previous win came against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who were restricted to a score of 171 thanks to some tight bowling in the middle overs. The chase was then aced with Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad putting on their third consecutive 50+ partnership and second 100+ partnership. With such a resounding win, CSK would be hopeful of making it six in a row today.

Match Prediction

Although Chennai Super Kings are in red-hot form at the moment and have strung together five wins in a row, Mumbai Indians could end up on the winning side. The Rohit Sharma-led side have always troubled CSK in the past and that might continue today. The middle order will hold key for MI and if they fire, it would hold the side in good stead in the encounter.
