The Kolkata Knight Riders batting collapsed during the final five overs of their Indian Premier League 2021 clash against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, meaning the Knight riders lost by a close 10-run margin.
Chasing 153 to win the match, Kolkata were 122/3 with Nitish Rana at the crease who had brought up his half-century. Shakib joined hands with him at that stage and after that we saw some careless batting display by the KKR batters. While dominating for 35 overs and needing just 31 runs off the last 30 deliveries with six wickets in hand, KKR lost by 10 runs and failed to finish the game.

But, before their collapse, Kolkata Knight Riders on Twitter claimed that Murali Kartik jinxed their victory. Murali was in the commentary box halfway during the second innings when he commented that Kolkata would easily win from there. Just after that, Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi were dismissed in a span of two overs by Rahul Chahar. Kolkata’s batting started to collapse and they eventually ended up on the losing side.
“Why, @kartikmurali, why? :(,” tweeted KKR.
It was a very horrible batting display and Kolkata Knight Riders would look to bounce back in their next game against their arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore on 18th April, 3:30 pm at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
