The 8th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 will see three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locking horns with KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings (PBKS). Both sides had a contrasting start to their campaign this season. While CSK conceded an easy loss, PBKS are coming off a hard-fought win.

The two sides will face each other on April 16 (Friday) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Team Preview – Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) started their IPL 2021 campaign with a hard fought win against Rajasthan Royals. PBKS batsmen did a phenomenal job before their bowlers struggled to impress the fans. Punjab’s expensive buys Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson looked quite flat during that game. The Aussie duo conceded over a 100 runs between them in eight overs.

While it may tempt them to bring in the more experienced Moises Henriques or Chris Jordan or both to strengthen their side. But it is unlikely that either of them will be replaced for this game as PBKS will be keen on handing them one more opportunity. The only change might be Ravi Bishnoi, who could get a chance ahead of Murugan Ashwin.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off on the wrong foot this season as they lost their opening game of IPL 2021. After posting a decent total of 188/7 on the board, CSK struggled to restrict a fiery Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede. The Chennai-based franchise missed the services of quality wicket-taking options in their side.

Lack of options in the side might force CSK to go into their second game with an unchanged XI. Both Lungi Ngidi and Jason Beherendroff are unavailable for the game which means CSK will be without an express fast bowler yet again. While Imran Tahir is a great option, his inclusion will disturb the side’s balance.
