Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a torrid time at the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2020 as they finished last in the points table. After a promising start to the campaign, the men in pink lost the plot towards the middle and end as they lost ground and finished with the wooden spoon despite always being in contention for the top 4 spots. The franchise would be raring to perform better in the 2021 edition.
With an eye on the auction for the same, RR have taken quite a few drastic steps. They have released their captain Steve Smith and elevated Sanju Samson as captain. They have also appointed Sri Lankan cricketing legend Kumar Sangakkara as their Director of Cricketing Operations. With a fairly newer look to the team and the auction looming, it wouldn’t be a surprise if RR contend for the playoff spots next year.
‘We’ll try our best to get this firepower’ – RR’s hilarious reply
The Twitter handle of the Rajasthan Royals is known to be quite active in replying to fans and the admin of the same was at his/her hilarious best when a fan asked regarding the plans for the upcoming auction. The fan wrote, “What do you think who will you pick in auction ?? (sic)“
RR replied with a picture of Bollywood actor Harman Baweja in a still from his 2009 movie Victory and captioned it, “Seems tough but we’ll try our best to get this firepower.” Soon after the Tweet was posted, it went viral with fans appreciating the Twitter handle for its sense of humor.
The auction for the IPL will take place on February 18 in Chennai.
