IPL 2021: ‘The feeling in the camp is absolutely electric and upbeat’ – Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians looking to ‘continue from where they left in Dubai’

After a gap of two years, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is returning to India. The first match of the 14th season of the IPL will see Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore lock horns in Chennai. The tournament opener is set to be cracker with two of the stalwarts of the league facing off.
MI skipper Rohit Sharma shares that the defending champions’ camp is charged up for the new season. Rohit is excited about how the new signings would fair in the league. The destructive opener adds that his side will be looking to pick up from where they lefyt in Dubai last season.

“The feeling in the camp is absolutely electric and upbeat. It is the start of the new season, we all know that. The guys are very excited to get going. We’ve got some new faces in the squad as well which is exciting. IPL is always an exciting time and coming off from playing a lot of cricket as well.“
“So, looking forward to get going. I think it is going to be a good one this year as well. Hopefully, we can do the right things. We can continue from where we left in Dubai,” Rohit said in a video posted by the MI on their official Twitter handle.

Piyush Chawla is a veteran of the IPL with 156 scalps to his name with a brilliant economy of under 8 runs per over. The player was picked up by Indians for 2.40 crore Rs in the Auction. This signing by Mumbai Indians was questioned as MI already have a leg spinner in Rahul Chahar who has been performing quite well.
Opening up on Chawla’s inclusion, Rohit asserts that the veteran brings in the much needed variety to their attack. Rohit further explains that the leggie’s experience in the league will help the young spinners in the side.
“He is quite experienced in terms of playing IPL games. He has been around for a number of years now and knows exactly what this team expects him to do. I’m pretty sure that he is going to able to live by that because of his experience and the number of wickets he has taken in the IPL.“
“He brings the variety in our squad which were looking for. I’ve played with him since my U-19 days so I know him pretty well, he knows me well. It is going to be good camaraderie between both of us on the field,” he concluded.
The 14th season of the IPL kicks off today at Chennai. The game is expected to be an interesting one as both the sides lock horns with their regulars openers missing. While Quinton de Kock will be missing the game as he goes through the mandatory quarantine period, Devdutt Padikkal is unlikely to play as he has recovered from COVID-19 only recently.
