Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma has taken to spreading awareness on environmental issues with his choice of shoes for this season’s Indian Premier League. In the tournament opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he wore shoes highlighting endangered rhino species and in the second outing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) he wore one with “PLASTIC FREE OCEAN”. 

Rohit Sharma is always in talks because of his witty senses and staying true to his style and this IPL he has taken a unique approach to speak up for environment issues, be it supporting the conservation of the Great One-Horned Rhinoceros or the Indian Rhino or Speaking up about the Saving our Oceans .

It was back in 2013 when Adidas made Rohit Sharma their brand ambassador in India. Rohit has always loved supporting Adidas and the brand’s progressive line of products. Rohit also became the Ocean Squad Member of Run for the Oceans. It was a global run event which aimed to elevate focus about marine plastic air pollution through the electricity of sports.

Adidas made shoes from the waste plastics to save the oceans and also initiated, “Run For The Oceans” movement that addressed environmental threats towards the oceans and marine plastic pollution which was a campaign initiative by ADIDAS. Rohit Sharma also took it to his twitter account back in 2019 to support this initiative as well.

Now, in this year’s IPL, Rohit has taken to wearing cricket shoes which showcase the endangered species on them. “The other cause that’s extremely close to my heart. This one hits hard! This is a hundred percent in our control to reverse. I take my cause with me while I go out and do what I love! I walk out with my cause but it won’t end there, I need you guys to walk with me. Let’s get our oceans healthy again.” Rohit Sharma wrote on his Instagram account

Rohit seems to be a man on a mission and it will be interesting to see what Rohit wears in the next game now!
