Rohit Sharma has been making waves with his environmental safety messages during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper has been doing so with his choice of shoes which have these messages written and decorated on them. In the first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rohit wore a shoe which had a message about saving rhinos.
In the second match against Kolkata Knight Riders, the opening batsman wore a shoe with the writing, “Plastic Free Oceans”. Now, in yesterday’s third match, he wore a ‘Save the Corals’ shoe. He also took to his social media accounts to reveal his reasons for wearing the shoes while stressing on the importance of saving the coral reefs and why they must be conserved and preserved for a brighter future.

Rohit Sharma took to social media today to reveal the reason for wearing his ‘coral’ shoes. He wrote, “Our reefs are the heart and souls of our oceans. Nothing makes me happier than a healthy reef. My love for the ocean cannot be put into words and saving it will forever be my cause.“
“I was afraid of the ocean at the start but as I learnt more about it and all the amazing marine life it houses and the massive role it plays for our survival, I fell in love instantly. Even the tiniest change in our mindset, in our activities or in our understanding of what we can do to help will have a massive ripple effect on our environment. Protecting our oceans means protecting our future,” he added.
Rohit Sharma seems like a man on a mission and it remains to be seen what message he would come up with for MI’s next match.
