The 48th match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League saw Royal Challengers Bangalore locking horns with Punjab Kings in a must-win encounter. Bangalore were brilliant throughout the match as they paved their way into the playoffs with a six-wicket victory. On the other hand, it was the same old story for the Kings.
The first innings saw RCB putting up a batting masterclass to post 164 runs on the scoreboard. Glenn Maxwell continued his blistering form with the willow was the all-rounder hammered 57 runs off just 33 deliveries. Maxwell hit three boundaries and four maximums at a strike rate of 172.73.
Devdutt Padikkal also looked in fine form as he smashed 40 runs off 38 balls. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers also made notable contributions as they played quick cameos. For Punjab, Moises Henriques was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball.

The Australian seamer scalped three crucial wickets of Kohli, Padikkal, and Dan Christian while bowling at an economy rate of 3. Mohammed Shami was the other bowler from the Punjab camp who picked a three-wicket haul.
Chasing 165, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul gave Punjab Kings a dream start. The opening duo hammered the RCB bowlers all over the park as they collected 81 runs in 10 over without any loss of wicket. However, Shahbaz Ahmed dismissed KL Rahul in the 11th over to give RCB a much-needed breakthrough.
From there on, the Royal Challengers Bangalore outfit clawed their way back into the match as they took timely wickets to disturb PBKS. Despite a brilliant effort by Mayank Agarwal who scored 57 off 42, Punjab Kings ended up on the losing side. Yuzverdra Chahal led the attack for RCB by picking three wickets at an economy rate of 7.2.
