IPL 2021: RCB vs KKR – Preview

Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore are off to a flying start having won both their matches and find themselves atop the points table.
They had a close win in both of the matches and it was their bowlers who shined on these occasions. In the first match, the side defeated defending champions Mumbai Indians courtesy to a brilliant performance from Harshal Patel, who starred with the ball and grabbed a five-wicket haul.
In the last game against Hyderabad, RCB only managed to post 149 on the board despite Glenn Maxwell’s half-century. However, that did not deter their hopes and they came back into the game brilliantly. Siraj bowled ten consecutive dots and also dismissed Saha. It was Shahbaz Ahmed who turned the match for them as he got three wickets which includes Manish Pandey, Jonny Bairstow, and Abdul Samad in a single over. It was a brilliant move by Virat Kohli to bring him in the 17th over. RCB then managed to win by six runs and go at the top of the table.
Bangalore would want to continue their winning momentum against their arch-rivals Kolkata Knight Riders. Virat Kolhi got a start in both the matches but failed to convert it into a big score. RCB can score big if Virat stays till the end with Maxwell and AB de Villiers as their power hitters.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders have one win in their two matches. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match but suffered a humiliating defeat against Mumbai Indians in the second match.
Kolkata Knight Riders bowled extremely well against Mumbai. They restricted them on 152 runs which a below-par score as Mumbai were on the track to score 180+ until the death overs. Russell took a quick five-wicket haul in just two overs and rolled through Mumbai’s lower order.
Kolkata’s openers stitched a brilliant 72 run partnership before Shubman Gill was dismissed by Rahul Chahar. Nitish Rana bought up his second consecutive fifty but as soon as he departed, he was followed by other batters to the pavilion. They needed 31 runs from 28 deliveries with Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell at the crease. It looked like an easy victory, but some poor display of batting by them saw KKR lose by 10 runs.
Nitish Rana has been the only consistent performer for them. Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan have not performed as per their expectations and need to step up their game.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders have given us some exciting games in the past and we can expect the same again when both sides meet tomorrow at Chennai.
