IPL 2021: “They have been doing really well” – Sanju Samson praises RR bowlers after win over KKR
Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured their second win of the season as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. It was a comprehensive performance from the Sanju Samson-led side as they were excellent in all three departments of the game to condemn their opponents to their fourth consecutive defeat of the tournament.
Earlier, KKR were restricted to a score of 133/9 with Man of the Match Chris Morris picking up 4 wickets. None of the KKR batters with the exception of Rahul Tripathi could get going. In the chase, despite a few early nervy moments, Sanju Samson anchored the chase to perfection and led them home safely in 18.5 overs. The win helped them climb from the 8th position to the 6th spot on the table.
Sanju Samson speaks on RR’s win over KKR
Sanju Samson spoke at the post-match presentation about RR’s win and said, “Our bowlers have been doing really well for the last 4-5 matches. There are many options for me to juggle around. Really enjoy captaining them. You could see in Morris’ eyes he wanted the competition. He wanted to get the big batsmen out (Morris). Situation of the match demands the way I play. That’s what I’ve learnt from previous years. Even if you bat and score a quick fifty you feel bad if the team doesn’t win.”
Speaking of young Chetan Sakariya, Samson said, “Sakariya is a very different kind of person. Very happy going, very chilled out. Same person inside and outside the ground. Hopefully he will win us more matches in the future. Need to chill down a bit. Have been playing continuous matches from last week. Will take a day off and plan for the next game.”
RR’s next match is against Mumbai Indians on the 29th of April.
