IPL 2021: Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper Shreevats Goswami donates Rs. 90,000 for oxygen supplies

The COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc in India at the moment with as many as 3 lakh cases and more being reported each day. This had led to several problems arising such as shortage of oxygen supplies. Amidst this dire period of time, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is the only major sporting event taking place in the country with strict protocols, restrictions and bio-bubbles.

A few players taking part in the tournament have expressed their concerns about the conduct of the same due to the situation outside. Players like Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa and Andrew Tye have left for Australia while Ravichandran Ashwin also decided to take a break. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins who is taking part in the tournament decided to donate a sum of USD 50,000 to help India’s fight against COVID-19, urging others to follow suit. Now, India’s Shreevats Goswami has also donated for the same.

Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper Shreevats Goswami took to Twitter today to state that he had donated Rs. 90,000 saying, “Several verified/legit NGOs like the @Hemkunt_Fdn are doing their bit during this crisis, @donatekart helps you to reach them, I have done my bit. Requesting people who can afford please reach out and help as much as you can. We are in this together.” He then quote tweeted a post from Donatekart and wrote, “Happy to help. please donate and reach out 🙂 we are in this together.”

Donatekart took to Twitter to confirm the news of the donation and wrote, “Thanks a lot @shreevats1 for your generous contribution of Rs. 90,000 to provide oxygen suppliers in this hour of need.”

Shreevats Goswami has not yet played a game for SRH in IPL 2021.
