Delhi Capitals (DC) are in a good place on the points table for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With three wins in four matches, they would fancy their chances of making it to the playoffs this year and potentially winning the title for the first time ever as well. Led by the young Rishabh Pant in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, the team has shown immense potential already.

Shikhar Dhawan has been in stupendous form as he is the current orange cap holder. He was in good nick in the previous match against Mumbai Indians (MI) as well when he put on a good partnership with Steve Smith. The Aussie was at his patient best as he anchored the innings well before getting out. Bought at the auction for the 2021 edition after being released by Rajasthan Royals (RR), Smith seems to have settled in well at DC.

Steve Smith spoke to Delhi Capitals in a video posted by the franchise where he spoke of being a part of DC and said, “It hasn’t been difficult at all, just a really good group of people. Who bring everyone together, you know for a common cause, and that’s trying to do everything we can, to make the time enjoyable for everyone but winning the IPL is obviously the ultimate goal.”

He then spoke of putting on a good partnership with Shikhar Dhawan in the previous game saying, “Nice to spend a bit of time in the middle with Shikhar the other day. You know he’s batting superbly, so takes a lot of pressure off. So it was nice to spend some time out there and enjoy it and yeah hopefully some big runs in the next few games.

DC’s next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad which takes place tomorrow.
