IPL 2021 Match 6 SRH vs RCB: Preview

Royal Challengers Bangalore celebrate a wicket
Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad were on the receiving end of some heavy assault by the KKR batters. Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi were taking every bowler to the cleaners and showed no mercy in the middle overs. Sunrisers managed to get back in the game but a quickfire innings from Dinesh Karthik, in the end, saw KKR post a total of 187. Afghan duo Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi were the picks of the bowlers for Hyderabad. After losing the openers quickly, Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow brought SRH back into the game as they both notched their half-centuries. After the departure of the latter, SRH batsmen were unable to hit the ball and get boundaries and eventually lost the game by 10 runs.

On the batting front, Abdul Samad showed some brilliance at the end but it was too late. Hyderabad’s woes of a hard-hitting and dependable lower-order batsman are worrying them again. Abdul Samad, if promoted early could solve that. They have been highly dependent on David Warner to perform at the start.

On the other hand, bowling has been the strength of SRH over the past few seasons with Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading the attack. But during the last game, Bhuvi was taken for runs with Rashid Khan being the only bowler with an economy under eight.

With Kane Williamson and Jason Holder on the bench, it will be exciting to see how SRH management plays them or do they even play them.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore started their season with a win over defending champion Mumbai Indians. Virat Kohli’s jinx of the coin toss was finally broken as he won the toss and opted to field first.

RCB got Rohit early in the innings owing to a mix-up between him and Lynn. Surya Kumar Yadav and Chris Lynn played decently in the middle, but a great death bowling display by RCB bowlers saw Mumbai Indians reach only 159. Harshal Patel was the star of the show as he grabbed his first five-wicket haul and also became the first bowler to do so against Mumbai Indians in the history of IPL. Bangalore lost Washington Sundar, who was promoted to open the innings, and Rajat Patidhar early in the innings. But, a solid partnership between Big Show Maxwell and Virat Kohli followed by a lethal batting display by ABD, in the end, saw RCB clinching the match in a last-ball thriller.

Devdutt Padikkal’s return will strengthen their top order. With Virat, Maxwell, and ABD in the lineup RCB are well settled. If Dan Christian can play the same way he did in BBL, it would be a great advantage for the Challengers.

Harshal Patel put up a great show with the ball. He gave only a single run in the last over and took three wickets which was the turning point of the match. Kyle Jamieson also bowled economically and contributed to the victory.
