IPL 2021: “The Kiwi tug-of-war has been settled” – Kolkata Knight Riders troll Chennai Super Kings after retaining Tim Seifert
All franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) announced their full list of retained players yesterday. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were two teams who chose not to chop and change too much as they released just 6 and 5 players respectively. Despite both sides finishing outside the playoff spots last year, it seems evident that both franchises have faith in their core group to deliver next year.
One of the retained players for KKR was Tim Seifert who missed the last season with injury. The New Zealander was hinted to be targeted in the auction by CSK when their head coach Stephen Fleming had stated while he was commentating on a New Zealand game that CSK might have a look at him. However, the same has been rendered impossible now as the batter has been retained by KKR.
KKR take a cheeky dig at CSK after retaining Seifert
The official Twitter handle of the Kolkata Knight Riders posted an image of what Fleming had said during commentary about Seifert – “There’s a team in Yellow that might have a look at Seifert as well. Not just Brendon McCullum’s team.” Along with the same, they posted a picture of their own head coach and fellow New Zealander, Brendon McCullum writing a reply to his CSK counterpart saying, “Dear Flem, Sorry to disappoint. We are keeping him.“
This cheeky and humorous dig at the CSK franchise by KKR has gone viral on social media with fans appreciating the banter and the good-humored post.
