IPL 2021: Twitter reacts as Ruturaj Gaikwad returns to form with a classy knock

Ruturaj Gaikwad had a stupendous Indian Premier League (IPL) season in 2020. The youngster was one of the revelations of the season as he notched up three consecutive fifties during the latter end. This time around, he was backed yet again by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but wasn’t able to deliver in the first three matches. The pressure was mounting but CSK persisted with him.

Gaikwad rewarded the management’s faith today with a classy half-century today against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Getting off to a good start on a batting beauty of a wicket at the Wankhede Stadium, the opener was in his element as he hit the opposition bowlers around the park. He put on a hundred-run partnership with his opening partner Faf du Plessis as the duo made merry.

Ruturaj Gaikwad struck six fours and four sixes during his entertaining knock that saw him take on the pacers. He was especially hard on the likes of Pat Cummins and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He was finally dismissed when he was on 64 by Varun Chakravarthy who had him dismissed caught by Cummins at deep mid-wicket. Gaikwad’s knock came in just 42 balls and provided a great platform for the side to reach a big score.
