IPL 2021: Twitter reacts as Ravindra Jadeja goes berserk in the final over to hit 37 runs

Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja equaled the record for the most runs hit in an over in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he plundered 37 runs off the final over bowled by Harshal Patel at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Till then, the southpaw had looked rusty and was struggling with dehydration. Further, Harshal had picked up three wickets and conceded just 14 runs. But then, the final over happened.
Earlier, CSK won the toss and chose to bat first while RCB skipper Virat Kohli stated that he would have bowled first. The Men in Yellow’s openers got their side off to a good start yet again as they crossed a fifty partnership. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad holed out after getting to a thirty. Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina then kept the scoreboard ticking with some good shots before they lost their wickets off consecutive deliveries.

Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja then continued to score runs with some hurry although they weren’t able to set the ground of fire. After the former’s dismissal, MS Dhoni walked in and CSK were just not able to middle deliveries as they stared a score less than 170 when at one point 200 seemed in sight. Further, Harshal Patel who came in to bowl the last over had gave away just 14 runs while picking up 3 wickets.
It was then that Jadeja went all guns blazing and completely obliterated the bowler. He hit two sixes off the first two balls before depositing the third which was a no-ball for a six as well. With the free hit going for a six as well and a two, six and four following, Jadeja equaled Chris Gayle‘s record of hitting 37 runs in an over that the former RCB player achieved against Kochi Tuskers Kerala off Prashant Parameshwaran‘s bowling.
This is how Twitter reacted to Jadeja’s knock.
