Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) slumped to their first defeat of the season as they fell to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was an all-round performance from Ravindra Jadeja that sunk RCB as they fell to the second spot (and subsequently third after DC’s win over SRH) on the points table while the Men in Yellow climbed to the top spot with four wins.
Jadeja was in his element as he struck a 62-run knock in just 28 balls – a knock that included 37 runs hit in a single over off Harshal Patel‘s bowling. With the ball, the southpaw struck thrice as he took the wickets of Washington Sundar, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers. In the field as well, he effected a direct-hit to send back Dan Christian, capping off a memorable performance.
Virat Kohli gets fined
Virat Kohli has been fined by the IPL today for maintaining a slow over-rate. A statement was released saying, “Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 25. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Mr Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh.”
Subsequent offences would lead to a bigger fine and potentially a ban. Therefore, Kohli must remain careful as he can not risk getting himself banned which could be a huge blow for the team.
RCB’s next match is against Delhi Capitals on the 27th of April.
