The opening game of the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is DJ Bravo‘s 100th game in yellow. Bravo, who joined CSK back in 2011, has been a loyal servant of the three-time champions.
The West Indian has delivered with the bat and ball, sometimes both, for CSK on many occasions over the years. As Bravo nears the end of his illustrative career, he has been troubled with injuries and dip in form. Yet CSK seems to believe in his all-round abilities and have preferred him over the likes of Imran Tahir and Lungi Ngidi.
DJ Bravo smashes back to back sixes off Trent Boult
In their first game of the second leg, CSK found themselves in deep trouble as they lost four wickets in the powerplay. Despite the early setback, the men in yellow managed a respectable total thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s impressive knock and Bravo’s stunning cameo. Bravo scored 23 off eight balls during his brief but eventful stay at the crease.
In the penultimate over of the game, Bravo stepped up to help his side to a fighting total. The destructive all-rounder smashed two sixes in a row off Trent Boult. Boult tried to outfox Bravo with slower deliveries but failed miserably as the latter was ready for it. The 19th over saw Boult concede 24 runs as Bravo and Ruturaj took him apart.
