Delhi Capitals (DC) cruised to victory yesterday against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) thanks to a largely decent bowling performance and an assured batting display at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Delhi. The heroes on the night were Kagiso Rabada for his three-wicket haul and the DC openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw for their lively displays of batting in the Powerplay.
It was Shaw who was the aggressor in the chase of 167 as he continued his form from the previous match with some typically eye-pleasing shots. The PBKS bowlers had no clue on how to get him out in the first six overs as he made merry and ensured that DC were on top. It was then a delivery from Harpreet Brar that came immediately after a strategic time-out that beat Shaw all ends up and got him out.

In the third over of the second innings bowled by Riley Meredith, Shaw misjudged a good length delivery and missed a pull. The ball then went to hit him square in his groin at a speed of 141 kph. The opener writhed in pain and slumped to the floor. Physio Patrick Farhat then came running in to attend to Shaw. There was a considerable amount of time taken to ensure that it was all good before play resumed.
Just as Farhat gave a green signal for play to continue, Shaw took it upon himself to examine the part where he was hit. Upon seeing that it was all good, the youngster was seen smiling in happiness. This moment has now gone viral on social media with fans reacting hilariously to it.
DC’s next match is against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on the 8th of May.
