Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) today in a 3:30 PM match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, they were pegged back early by a two-wicket burst from Varun Chakravarthy. However, the highlight of the wickets was not the bowling but an incredible piece of catching from Rahul Tripathi.
Virat Kohli has not been in the best of form in the IPL so far despite the fact that he got 30s in each of the last two matches. The RCB skipper would now want to get back to his best as a crucial middle period of the IPL beckons for the side in their quest for a maiden IPL title.

KKR continued their practice of opening with spin from both ends as Harbhajan Singh and Varun Chakravarthy were tasked with the job. After the former came up with a tight over despite bowling a no-ball, Chakravarthy applied the pressure in the second. Kohli then decided to take the spinner on and it led to his downfall as his bat turned while he went for a lofted drive through the off-side.
The ball seemed to be heading past the in-field however, and on first viewing it looked like Kohli was safe. However, Rahul Tripathi ran full throttle and dived full length with his back to the ball to complete an astonishing catch. It was a moment of genius to remove the dangerous Kohli and KKR were rightly pumped. Chakravarthy then went on to dismiss Rajat Patidar with a quicker one.
