IPL 2021: WATCH – Sanju Samson tries to keep the coin used in the toss yet again

Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) captain Sanju Samson continued his tradition of wanting to take the coin used at the toss ahead of his side’s matches with him. The Kerala batsman had earlier taken the coin during RR’s match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He had taken the coin during the match after it had landed in his favour much to the surprise of fellow captain KL Rahul and commentator Michael Slater.

When asked by Harsha Bhogle about the coin toss incident Sanju said, “The coin (at the toss) looked brilliant, so I pocketed it. I asked the referee if I can have it, but he said no.” The tradition continued today as well when Samson’s RR took on MS Dhoni‘s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

At the toss today as well, Samson took the coin much to the surprise yet again of fans and those on the field. He was however, not asked about it this time by the commentator due to it already being known as to his reasons.

With regard to the match, CSK got to an excellent score of 188 thanks to regular cameos by their batters. The likes of Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo made useful contributions for their side. In the chase, RR seemed to be going well with Jos Buttler but his wicket to Ravindra Jadeja turned things around in the Men in Yellow’s favour as they then applied the choke.
