Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) notched up a victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR) yesterday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a fantastic effort from the openers that sealed the deal for the side as Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal ended on an unbeaten partnership of 181 runs to chase down the target of 178 set by the Royals.

Firstly, RR were rocked back by an early spell from Mohammed Siraj that had them reeling. With four early wickets going down, RR seemed to be down and out before Shivam Dube and Rahul Tewatia made useful contributions to take the score to 177. In the second innings, it was the Padikkal-Kohli show as the duo pummeled the bowlers around the park and absolutely offered them no chance for a wicket, let alone a win.

Virat Kohli largely played second fiddle during the opening partnership to the explosive hitting of Padikkal. However, with a win all but sealed, the RCB skipper accelerated in trademark fashion to get to a fifty. It was his first fifty of the IPL 2021 season after hitting two fifties and suffering a failure in the other match. As the entire RCB dugout rose to applaud their captain for his knock, Kohli decided to dedicate his half-century to his daughter.

Kohli blew a kiss and then imitated a gesture of rocking a baby as a dedication to his daughter. Vamika was born on the 11th of January of this year.
