The second match of the double-header today will see Delhi Capitals (DC) taking on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Both sides would want nothing but a win today following their disappointing losses in their previous game. Both sides had got off to a good start in the tournament however, winning the first match.
DC were defeated in a last-over thriller by Rajasthan Royals (RR) as Chris Morris came up with some brutal hitting against Kagiso Rabada and Tom Curran. PBKS on the other hand, suffered from a horror show with the bat as they managed to score just 106 runs in their match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before the latter sealed a facile win by chasing down the total in less than 16 overs.
Who will win today’s match: DC vs PBKS
Punjab Kings suffered a mauling in their previous match and hence, their confidence is bound to have taken a hit. With problems in the batting line-up showing after the loss of early wickets, PBKS could feel the need to make some changes as well due to the long nature of their tail, which was exposed for all to see by CSK. DC would be out to exploit that today and eye early wickets in the Powerplay.
DC would hence, be favourites to win this one, due to the strength of their line-up and form. Their loss against RR was merely down to the explosive hitting of Morris. They wouldn’t feel the need to chop and change too much and would just want to perform like CSK against the dangerous PBKS batting order. If they do that, DC would have it easy. If not, it could turn out to be a cracker of a contest.
