IPL 2021: “Best way to silence your critics in state cricket” – Yuvraj Singh heaps praise on Harpreet Brar

Harpreet Brar was the hero for Punjab Kings (PBKS) yesterday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The Punjab all-rounder was picked in the playing XI for the first time ahead of Arshdeep Singh and he delivered with a performance to remember. Playing in just his fourth match for PBKS, he went on to bag the Man of the Match.

In the first innings, Brar rescued PBKS with a vital partnership alongside skipper KL Rahul. He scored 25 off 17 balls at the death to help take side past the 170 mark. Then with the ball, he picked up the crucial wickets of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers to all but seal the deal. He was also assured in the field as also held a catch to cap off a truly memorable evening for him.

Soon after Harpreet Brar’s terrific performance, fellow Punjabi and former cricketer Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to heap praises on him as well as the Punjab Cricket Association’s President, Secretary and Harbhajan Singh for backing the young all-rounder.

Yuvraj wrote, “Very happy for @thisisbrar! Getting wickets of some quality batsman and getting useful runs in the end! Also, the best way to your critics when it comes to state cricket!! Well done PCA president, secretary and @harbhajan_singh in supporting your match winners #PBKSvRCB.”

PBKS are currently in the fifth spot on the table with 3 wins from their first 7 matches. They would want to come up with a better showing in the second half of the league phase of the tournament.
