IPL 2022: Who’s behind Shimron Hetmyer’s colourful hair transitions?

Shimron Hetmyer, the hard-hitting West Indian batter, opted to colour his hair pink ahead of the upcoming 15th edition of IPL 2022.

The southpaw always experiments with his hairstyle in the cash-rich league every year. Previously, he got his hair blue for the Delhi Capitals team in 2021. This year, when Rajasthan Royals (RR) picked him for Rs. 8.50 crores, he matched his hair color with the pink jersey of the franchise.

Earlier, RR shared a video on Twitter where Hetmyer was answering fans’ questions and there he revealed the person behind his bold and funky hairstyle. He also answered that New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is his all-time favourite cricketer. Williamson, Mitchell Starc, Virat Kohli and Jason Holder are his favourite Test player.

Answering the question about why he coloured his hair pink, the 25-year-old said: “Well, that’s a question! It actually happened from… this actually came out from last year. My wife is the color genius behind the whole thing. Last year, we were in Delhi. Well when I was with Delhi, she was there as well and she was like ‘Why don’t you color your hair blue just to see what it looks like? You know let’s see and…let’s see if you’ll enjoy it’ and I was like okay sure no problem.” Hetmyer said.

“And after that she was like ‘Okay this year you’re in pink so let’s do pink.’ Because last year she was saying that she was wondering what my hair would look like in pink. So, I guess I’m here in pink.”

RR team will be led by Sanju Samson and they’ll start their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 29. IPL will kick start on March 26 with the match between CSK and KKR.
