IPL franchise owners set to own 6 teams in CSA’s new T20 League auction: Reports

Cricket South Africa will be having its new domestic T20 League which would compete with the global leagues like IPL, BBL, and the Hundred. There were 29 Expressions of Interests (Eols) and according to the reports, six IPL owners will snap six teams according to reports. The bidding for the teams closed on July 13 and the winners are not revealed yet.

According to Cricbuzz website, the owners of IPL franchises- Mukesh Ambani of Mumbai Indians, N Srinivasan of Chennai Super Kings, Sanjiv Goenka of Lucknow Super Giants, Manoj Badale of Rajasthan Royals, Parth Jindal of Delhi Capitals, the Marans of Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to own the teams of CSA’s new League.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, IPL’s two most successful franchises are set to have Cape Town and Johannesburg respectively. Lucknow Super Giants is eyeing the Durban franchise, Delhi Captail will be having Centurion in Pretoria, called Pretoria Capitals. Rajasthan Royals will have the team in Pearl, Sunrisers Hyderabad could have its team in Port Elizabeth.

The selection of the franchises will be announced only at the end of the month. Each franchise will have to play 10 percent of the franchise fee for 10 years.

During the time, the new league will be played next year, another league will also happen at the same time which The United Arab Emirates (UAE) -based league. Most cricketers are favouring the latter.

English star Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone have shown their interest in the new league while Moeen Ali wants to represent the UAE-based league. West Indies players also wants to represent UAE league.

Faf du Plessis is one of the biggest T20 star, and he is now a free agent. He will play in South Africa while Dwayne Bravo could also be there, might be with the CSK-owned team.
