During LSG’s match against RR at Ekana Stadium, a violent brawl broke out among spectators. Footage of the incident has spread across social media, prompting fans to express serious concerns about security at IPL stadiums.

While the action on the pitch at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow was an intriguing one, what caught fans’ attention was a far more aggressive confrontation that occurred in the stands. Videos of a heated brawl between a section of spectators have now gone viral. It is speculated that the fight occurred during the first half of the thrilling IPL clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals.

The video captured the moment the male spectator was violently shoved by an unruly individual, resulting in the victim tumbling head-first down two rows of seating. The victim stood up and retaliated by holding the aggressor by his neck, exchanging punches and kicks.

As other fans quickly tried to escape the area, the man who initiated the push shockingly removed his slipper and used it to strike the other. Eventually, nearby spectators stepped in and managed to bring the situation under control.

Witness accounts reported that the primary attacker was handed over to stadium security. Undoubtedly, it has raised some serious questions over crowd control at the Ekana and the lack of immediate steward intervention.

A similar altercation had occurred in the stands during LSG’s encounter against DC at the start of the season. Following this latest occurrence, authorities are currently analyzing the video footage to definitively identify the aggressor and slap the necessary penalties.

The cause of the dispute remains unclear, but it is also a reflection of the hostile atmosphere within the Ekana, stemming from Lucknow’s poor performance this season. LSG could not chase down a mere 160-run total against RR, falling short by 40 runs to record their fourth consecutive loss of the season. With four points from seven games, Lucknow Super Giants currently sit at ninth place on the table.

Rishabh Pant and Co. next take on KKR, who have also struggled in IPL 2026. The two teams already faced each other once this season, a game in which the Lucknow-based franchise found a new hero in Mukul Choudhary, who scored a blistering 54 off 27 balls.

CSK sign former MI player to replace injured Ayush Mhatre as IPL 2026 heats up

The ongoing 2026 IPL season has not gone Chennai Super Kings’ way, with the team having lost all three of its opening games for the first time. To add to the woes, the Men in Yellow have also had to steer through an injury crisis, with Ayush Mhatre being the latest casualty.

The 18-year-old batter has been ruled out of the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury. Prior to that, Mhatre was CSK’s primary aggressor, having scored 201 runs in six innings at an average of 33.50 and a strike-rate of 177.88. Medical reports have suggested that the U-19 World Cup-winning captain will require a period of 6 to 12 weeks to recover, leaving behind a massive void in the playing XI.

CSK have announced fast bowler Akash Madhwal as Mhatre’s replacement, and he joins the team for his base price of INR 30 lakhs. A skiddy right-arm pacer from Uttarakhand, Madhwal burst onto the scene following his IPL debut in 2023 for MI, when he picked up 14 wickets in eight games with an economy of 8.58. The following seasons, however, were not fruitful for Madhwal, as he took only 9 wickets.

Meanwhile, CSK is yet to announce a replacement for ace pacer Khaleel Ahmed, who has also been ruled out of IPL 2026. Prior to the start of the tournament, the franchise lost Nathan Ellis to an injury as well, with Spencer Johnson stepping in as a replacement.
