IPL: ‘Rishabh asked me to hit six, and I got out next ball,’ recalls Sanju Samson
Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson who will be opposing captains today
Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant are two of the most exciting Indian cricketers of recent times. The wicketkeeper-batsman duo has impressed all with their flamboyant batting skills. Currently, both have been awarded to lead their respective IPL franchises, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals during the 14th season of the tournament.
Earlier, Samson was also a part of the Delhi-based franchise in IPL 2017. He recalled Delhi’s match against now-defunct Gujarat Lions where he (61 off 31 balls) and Pant (97 off 43 balls) were indulged in one of the most brutal partnerships of the tournament to clinch the game for their side. However, the Kerala cricketer mentioned how Pant wanted him to hit a six but he got out on the next delivery.

“Rishabh wanted me to keep going. I hit two balls, two sixes, and I was trying to take a single. And, he told me, ‘No I think you should look for another six’. I tried doing that and got out next ball, actually!” Sanju Samson told ESPNCricinfo.
‘Everyone must stick to their own way of doing things’: Samson
Samson mentioned that every player has their own way of doing things and must stick to that. He added Rishabh Pant gained success over the years because he stuck to his way of playing shots.
“Everyone has their own way of doing things. If you listen to people and if you try to change things, that’s when a lot of doubts or a lot of questions keep on coming to you. It’s always about sticking to your true self. I am very happy to see Rishabh succeed and the only way he is succeeding is because he is sticking to his own way of playing. That’s the biggest example for almost everyone that you need to stick to your way of playing,” added Sanju Samson.
