With the conclusion of an electrifying 13th season of the Indian Premier League(IPL), the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is gearing up for yet another captivating season of franchise cricket. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has even confirmed that the next edition of the cash-rich league will happen in its regular April-May period. But what is troubling the fans are the reports of a mega auction for the upcoming season.

According to existing rules, franchisees will have to release the majority of their players if the mega auction takes places. This means teams will be able to retain only five players including two foreign players. This news has put Sunrisers Hyderabad fans in a fix. David Warner and Rashid Khan‘s consistency clearly makes them the top two foreign superstars of the side.

But this leaves Hyderabad’s middle-order mainstay Kane Williamson, who has rescued the side on numerous occasions, out in the cold. Following the reports of a mega auction, fans have showered the SRH skipper with questions about the same on social media. And Warner was seen assuring fans that Kane will continue to don the orange and black of SRH for the upcoming seasons.

Replying to a fan’s query on Instagram, the explosive Aussie wrote, “We will not lose him.

Warner shared that he wants the Kiwi superstar in his side. But quickly adds that the final decision rests with the team management. Responding to another fan’s request to retain Williamson message, Warner said, “We will. Don’t worry. Well, hope they do. I want him

If the mega auction commences under the old rules, Right To Match (RTM) will be the only way Hyderbad could get Williamson into the side. It goes without saying that if a player of Williamson’s stature comes under the hammer, no franchise will back off from a biding war which is only going to hurt Hyderbad’s dream of retaining him.
