INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY : IRELAND vs BELGIUM player ratings as the match ended with a draw score 2-2

IRELAND vs BELGIUM: Ireland faced Belgium in an international friendly game at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Belgium scored first in the game through Mitchy Batshuayi in the 12th minute. Ireland responded well as they equalized at the 35th minute. The Reds again got the lead after the half time but could not see off the game. Ireland showed tremendous fighting spirit to again tie the game at the dying stages of the match. A fair result seeing the entire game for both the teams.

Caoimhin Kelleher (7.0/10): Ireland goalkeeper made 2-3 saves for his team. Looked positive throughout the match. Could not be blamed for either of Belgium’s goals.

Seamus Coleman (6.1/10): Not a great night for the skipper. Could have done much much better in the action where his deflected header went into the net. Cleared many chances that could have been dangerous for his team.

Shane Duffy (7.2/10): Did many tackles to win the ball. Had a fair share of the ball in the time he was on the pitch. Physically strong and very good in the air.  A good overall show.

John Egan (7.1/10): The defender was one of the best players on the pitch. Did his defensive duties well. One of the best players on the pitch for his team. Went into the Belgian box many times.

James McClean (6.8/10): Won every duel at the wing zone. Was fouled by the opponent times to stop his runs. Subbed off in the second half. Was overloading the wings at times. Passing accuracy on the higher side. An overall good show from the wingback.

Jeff Hendrick (7.0/10): A quiet game for the midfielder. Did not win many of the second balls. Carried the ball forward from his own box at times. Had some attempts which were not upto the mark. Helped the defence with his composure.

Josh Cullen (7.0/10):  Dominated the midfield with physicality. Did the offensive work more. Had a key pass in the game.  Distributed the ball well for his wingbacks and forwards. Lost possession at bad areas at some times.

Matt Doherty (6.2/10):  Deployed as a wingback, did his defensive work very well but lacked the offensive side of the game. Should have dealt better with the wingers better. Made some good tackles at the wings. Did better in the second half.

Chiedozie Ogbene (8.1/10): Very bright in the opening stages of the game. Scored the first goal for his team with a delightful back volley. Dropped deep to link up with his teammates and created some chances from there.  Got an assist as well. A great outing for him.

Callum Robinson (6.9/10): Got in a get cross into the danger area which went on to be a goal for his team. Not much of the threat being the target man. Hardly did anything to be considered a goal threat. Was subbed off in the second half.

Jason Knight (6.7/10): The winger was not aggressive with his take ons. Got the assist for the first goal of his team. Lacked the proper anticipation. Accurate with his passing as he released some good balls.

BELGIUM

Simon Mignolet (7.3/10):  A great show from the belgium goalie. Made some brilliant saves to deny Ireland. Was brave with his punches and dives to get the ball away from his goal. Distribution from the back was good.

Arthur Theate (6.8/10):  Was intending to move the ball forward whenever possible. Intercepted the ball very well many times when the opponent forwards was closing down. Not so strong in aerial challenges. Good at challenges. Committed some fouls.

Dedryck Boyata (7.8/10):  An outstanding display from the defender. Cleared some threats from his box and won few aerial duels. Got yellow carded for a challenge. Subbed off at the 89th minute.

Jason Denayer (7.0/10): The right  centre back was easily beaten at ground duels at times. Conceeded possession at bad areas. Made some important tackles. Positioning and anticipation was good. A mixed display from him.

Alexis Saelmaekers (6.2/10): The left wingback was below average today. Blocked a few shots and cleared some threats. Had some attempts for himself as well at the other side of the pitch. Could have done better.

Leander Dendoncker (6.5/10): A decent show from the midfielder.  Got some great crosses into the box. Provided some excellent defence-splitting balls. Confident on the ball. Could have done man marking better.

Youri Tielemans (7.2/10): Provided very accurate and almost all long balls at the right place. Could have done the defensive duties better. Had seen a lot of the ball in the first half itself. Attempted some of his trademark long rangers as well.

Thorgan Hazard (7.4/10): Deployed as a wingback. Great intensity and work rate showed by the Belgian. Was always looking to provide the killer for his team. Helped his side defensively too at important situations.

Hans Vanaken (8.1/10): Assisted the first goal for his team showing brilliant movement in a closed space. Scored the second goal for his side. Kept the left channel active for his side.

Michy Batshuayi (8.2/10): Was a constant threat infront of goal. Looked great in few moments where he was hard to deal with. Scored the first goal for his team. A very good display. Subbed off in the second half.

Charles De Ketelaere (6.1/10): Had a good first first 20 minutes. Got away from the match with time. Created some chances for his team. Provided some crosses as well. Subbed off in the second half.

Substitutions:

Thomas Foket(6.7/10): Came on just after half time. Passing range was good. Good at ground challenges. Made some blocks and carried the ball upfield whenever possible.
