The legendary battle between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov kick-started a bitter feud between Ireland and Dagestan. It divided the community right down the middle, with fans still rooting against one another. Taking inspiration from his fellow compatriot, PFL star Paul Hughes revitalized the long-concluded rivalry with a fiery call-out aimed at Team Khabib.
Hughes defeated former champion AJ McKee, becoming only the second fighter to beat the American. This victory has certainly cemented his spot as the next contender to challenge the reigning lightweight king, Usman Nurmagomedov. Subsequently, he also called for McGregor to aid him in this upcoming clash against the Dagestani camp. It looks like ‘The Notorious’ has finally offered his response.

Conor McGregor also shared a rather unconventional take on the current state of MMA. The Irish star suggested that, due to the complete domination of one style, the entire product is suffering. He took snide aim at Team Khabib’s camp for introducing a style of wrestling that simply isn’t fun to watch. In a now-deleted tweet, he even proclaimed BKFC to be the superior sport.

The Irish mixed martial artist has been out of the sport for quite some time. In his last outing, he suffered a gruesome leg injury that seemingly ended his career. Bouncing back from such a setback hasn’t been easy, and it is something he is still trying to overcome. On the flip side, Khabib Nurmagomedov has raised an army of world champions.
One of the names includes Usman Nurmagomedov, who continues to perform impressively in the cage. With Usman racking up back-to-back title defenses and an unbeaten record, Huges certainly has a tough fight ahead of him. Only time will tell whether McGregor will assist his compatriot in his quest for gold or not, but for now, the Irish star seems focused on booking his return to the UFC.

Being one of the biggest and wealthiest stars of the sport comes with its fair share of cons. The 36-year-old star has ticked all the boxes regarding his goals within the sport. Moreover, his foray into boxing, outside business ventures, and an extravagant lifestyle may have doused his hunger. It is something that UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad agrees with.
When quizzed about it, Muhammad made it quite clear that he didn’t believe McGregor would ever fight again. He even stated that the former double champion only likes to make comments to stay in the limelight rather than competing inside the octagon.
No, I don’t think he fights again, ever. I think that he’s in that part of his life now where he’s starting to realize people are starting to forget about him. He just loves that attention so much, so when he sees something happening in the UFC that’s getting headlines, he wants to take that attention.
