Everyone thought New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen’s daughter was involved in pranking Shedeur Sanders. But it was Jeff Ulbrich’s 21-year-old son, Jax Ulbrich, who took advantage of his father’s position as the defensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons.

According to reports from Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, and Jordan Schultz, Jax Ulbrich is behind pranking Shedeur Sanders on day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft. Ulbrich found Sanders’ phone number, which he gave to only scouts and general managers on his dad’s iPad.

Initially, Giants GM Joe Schoen’s daughter, Sydney, was identified as the culprit. Until a video of two boys calling Sanders surfaced on social media. One of the boys, closer to the camera, can be heard saying the exact same words as the GM impersonator, who called Sanders.

A second boy sat right next to the caller. It was hard to recognize the face due to the terrible picture quality. But social media identified the boys as Jax Ulbrich.

Jax Ulbrich accepted that he was the one who pranked Shedeur Sanders on draft day

The suspicion about Ulbrich’s involvement in the prank call case was confirmed when he came out and accepted that it was his doing all along. He shared a lengthy post on social media as an apology letter to Sanders.

What I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful. I’m so sorry I took away from your moment; it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life, and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment.

Ulbrich also thanked Sanders for taking the call in the first place. He pleaded that it was a stupid move. It started off as a mild prank but ended up ruining the Colorado quarterback’s day.

Atlanta Falcons will not take any action against Ulbrich and his son

A son of one of their employees pranking a hopeful athlete on draft day is a bad look for the Falcons’ organization. They set up an investigation committee that later reported Jax Ulbrich’s involvement.

The Falcons posted a statement through their official channels. It stated that Ulbrich “unintentionally came across the contact phone number” of Deion Sanders’ son.

Earlier in the week, Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, unintentionally came across the draft contact phone number for Shedeur Sanders off an open iPad while visiting his parents’ home and wrote the number down to later conduct a prank call.

the statement from the Falcons read

Jax’s father wasn’t aware of the data breach. He found out about his son’s involvement through social media.

The Atlanta Falcons do not condone this behavior and send our sincere apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family, whom we have been in contact with to apologize to, as well as facilitate an apology directly from Jax to the Sanders family.

the statement read

Sanders slid down to the third day of the draft. He was with his family when the Cleveland Browns finally selected him 144th overall in the fifth round.

It didn’t really have an impact on me… I don’t feed into negativity, or I don’t feed into that stuff. You’ve seen on Deion Jr.’s [Shedeur’s older brother] Well off [Media] YouTube video. My reaction to it, I don’t, I think the dude was childish. Of course, I feel like it was a childish act, but everybody does childish things here and there.
