Is LeBron James injured before playoffs? JJ Redick gives update on Lakers superstar’s health
Lakers HC JJ Redick provided am important update regarding his star LeBron James ahead of TrailBlazers matchup.

JJ Redick and LeBron James
This season, the Los Angeles Lakers with the likes of superstars Luka Doncic and LeBron James surely mean business. They played the No. 2 seed, the Houston Rockets on Friday and defeated them by 140-109. Now, they did not do this once, but twice in a span of a few weeks. The Rockets have been amazing this season, especially defensively.
So the Lakers outclassing them is a huge result for JJ Redick and his team. However, during the game, his star, James was subbed out. He only contributed 22 minutes to Friday’s 140-109 victory. In his little amount of playing time, James was productive, ending with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists. James grimaced in discomfort throughout Friday’s game, seemingly suffering from a groin ailment.
However, Lakers HC Redick provided a soothing update on the Lakers star after the game. He stated that James is ‘fine’ going into the NBA Playoffs. Importantly, James was out for a while earlier this season due to a groin injury. Hence, his latest injury concerned the Lakers fanbase, thinking he might have aggravated his groin.
He’s fine

However, Redick’s comments have released some pressure on the Lakers fans, for now. In game 82 versus the Portland Trail Blazers, LA will have more time to relax before the playoffs because James and none of its regulars are required to participate. James will end his 22nd NBA season at averages of 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds in 70 games if he doesn’t play on Sunday, which is a fair expectation.
The Lakers have all but secured their NBA Playoff qualification with a dominating win over the Rockets. They will finish as 3rd seed in the Western Conference, making a statement to their fans as Redick’s first season as head coach of the team.
Luka Doncic leads the Lakers to their 50th win of the season against the Rockets
JJ Redick’s Los Angeles Lakers won their 50th game of the season on Friday. To make matters interesting, it came against a strong side in the Houston Rockets. Redick’s newest superstar, Luka Doncic led the attack for his side. After dropping a masterclass against his former side, Doncic is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
Doncic scored 39 points eight rebounds and seven assists. Not only that, Doncic also made NBA history with this stat line against the Rockets. The Slovenian has now joined Kobe Bryant as the only Lakers player to record more than 35 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five 3-pointers in consecutive games.

Notably, in 33 minutes, Reaves contributed 23 points (seven rebounds, six assists). Also, James only in 22 minutes added 14 points. Going into the NBA playoffs, this Lakers side will be determined to clinch the 2025 NBA title.
Austin Reaves shared his views on avoiding the ‘play-in tournament’ and playing alongside LeBron James
As mid-season approached, the Lakers were looking close to dropping into the NBA ‘Play-in tournament’ spots. However, they added Luka Doncic in February and the rest was history. Since Doncic got added to the side, the likes of Austin Reaves and LeBron James were boosted with confidence in the attack. The Lakers went on a huge winning streak, and have now finished 3rd seed.
After the Lakers’ recent game against the Rockets, Reaves opened up on how he and his side wanted to avoid playing in the play-in tournament.
We don’t really like each other, we deal with each other only because of basketball and friendships not that good but we did celebrate for a second for not being in the play-in tournament.
