It has been four years since football fans last saw Rob Gronkowski suiting up to play football. He has since moved on to earn a broadcasting contract with FOX Sports as part of their NFL coverage. That brings him back to work as colleagues alongside former New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady.

This makes it his second retirement after the 6′ 6″ tight end famously did not play in the 2019 season. The pain and suffering he endured from racking up all those injuries was becoming too much for his body to take.

Rob Gronkowski had an all-time great career

The New England Patriots drafted Rob Gronkowski after they felt he was the ‘best all-round player’ in the 2010 NFL Draft. In the next nine seasons with the team, he justified that opinion as he became the best tight end in the game.

Many felt he was better than the likes of Shannon Sharpe, Tony Gonzalez, and Antonio Gates. His accolades might not hold a candle to some of those Hall of Famers, but the way he played had many thinking he was leagues ahead of them.

His clutch plays both in the regular season and especially in the postseason netted him four Super Bowls. Add his larger-than-life personality, and he became a household name. Even to this day, fans wait to catch another glimpse of the famous ‘Gronk Spike’.
