Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond is confident he can break Xavier Worthy’s NFL Scouting Combine record in the 40-yard dash. Bond told reporters on Friday that he expects to beat Worthy’s 4.21-second time when he runs on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The wideout began his college career at Alabama before transferring to Texas, where he has recorded 99 catches for 1,428 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also added 101 rushing yards and another score in 41 career games. However, his most recent season with the Longhorns was underwhelming, particularly in the latter part of the year, including three postseason games.
Isaiah Bond admitted that he expects to achieve the record at Indianapolis. Xavier Worthy had a magical season until the Philadelphia Eagles broke the pot on Feb 9 at the Super Bowl LIX.
I’m going to break the record tomorrow for sure. I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly, if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1.
Isaiah Bond said to the reporters
Bond has been training for this moment and said his fastest recorded time so far is 4.23 seconds. A former high school track star, he won state titles in the 100-meter (10.51 seconds) and 200-meter (21.19 seconds) sprints. His speed has been a key part of his game throughout his career.
I’ve been running my whole life. I’ve been one of the fastest (athletes) my whole life. So I’m going to go out there, and when practice meets preparation, greatness is achieved. I’m just going to trust my training and put on a show.
Isaiah Bond added
Bond has long wanted to take on this challenge. After Worthy set the record last year, Bond posted “4.20 next year” on Instagram, signaling his intent.
Isaiah Bond’s draft projection and best team fits
According to the NFL Mock Draft Database Consensus Big Board, which aggregates 119 separate prospect rankings, Isaiah Bond is ranked as the 59th-best prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. This projection makes him a likely late-second or early-third-round pick, making him a highly sought-after speedster out of Texas.

However, given the unpredictable nature of the draft night, where trades and teams need to shift the board, Bond could land in various spots based on how franchises value his skill set.
The Steelers have been looking for a reliable deep threat to complement their receiving corps. Bond’s speed would provide a much-needed vertical element to their offense, stretching defenses and creating more opportunities for their quarterback.
With an aging wide receiver group, the Dallas Cowboys are also a strong runner to draft Isaiah Bond. They need to add more speed to their passing attack, Bond could slot in as a versatile weapon for Dak Prescott. The Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills are potential candidates for Bond.
The Rams are known for their creative offensive schemes under Sean McVay, and Bond’s skill set aligns well with their emphasis on speed and versatility. The Buffalo Bills are looking for some star power to develop and Isaiah Bond could be the answer they have been searching for.
