Amid the happy moments, the Kansas City Chiefs have an Isiah Pacheco-sized hole in their celebrations. The running back suffered a lower leg injury and had to use crutches and a walking boot amid the Chiefs’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
Pacheco’s injury happened just after the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter when he ran up the middle on a first-and-10 play for a short 1-yard gain. Soon enough, he was met with three Bengals defenders, tackling him from behind and causing him to bend backward.
The recent updates revealed that 25-year-old Pacheco has fractured his fibula which might put him out of play for some games. The complete picture will only be revealed after further tests are conducted to study the extent of the damage. A ligament injury could put his recovery timeline even further than expected.
Isiah Pacheco will likely join Marquise Brown in the IR. Brown, who suffered a shoulder impact during the preseason, needs surgery after the damage wasn’t healing as expected. The Chiefs have some severe issues in the running back department. There are woes with the Chiefs’ depth as they were forced to rotate Carson Steele and Samaje Perine in the last minutes of the game.
Should Pacheco be out of the picture for an extended time, the Chiefs would probably have to go with Perine. Perine has eight years of experience including being a backup for Joe Mixon, compared to the rookie Carson Steele.
Fans aren’t happy after Chiefs lose Isiah Pacheco to injury
Isiah Pacheco had a strong performance in Week 2 against the Bengals, posting 90 yards on 19 carries and adding 25 yards on five catches. Pacheco had significantly improved from game one, where he managed 45 yards on 15 carries. However, he had a TD in the opener.
Pacheco is an instrumental part of the Chiefs’ core. The fans are not at all happy with the recent developments.
They have vented out in X as they believe this is going to affect the game plan. They also raised some concerns regarding the depth of the defending champs.
That’s a significant blow for the Chiefs, especially with Pacheco being such a key player. His absence will definitely impact their game plan.

Certain fans, however, chose to point out the last play controversy in the field. The fans are fuming that referees have been biased toward the Chiefs since the tournament opener vs. the Baltimore Ravens.

Isiah Pacheco might miss almost four outings if he’s placed in the IR including a game against the San Francisco 49ers. The latest he could return will be against the Las Vegas Raiders in Game 7.
