Isiah Thomas Using Kevin Durant 6 Rings Analogy to Discredit Michael Jordan Enrages Fans – “Peak Hypothetical Delusion”
Detroit Pistons' legend Isiah Thomas has continued his beef with Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan over the years.

- Isiah Thomas claims Kevin Durant would have won six championships with the 1990s Chicago Bulls instead of Michael Jordan.
- Fans criticize Thomas for his analogy, arguing that Durant lacks the leadership qualities of Jordan.
- Thomas expresses admiration for Durant surpassing Jordan on the all-time scoring list, indicating a complex relationship with his rival.
Basketball fans are no strangers to the beef between Isiah Thomas and his forever rival, Michael Jordan. Especially after the former was hurt by the way he was depicted in the Netflix documentary, The Last Dance.
Since then, the Detroit Pistons’ legend has taken every opportunity he can to either diminish his Chicago Bulls rival or place someone above ‘His Airness’ in the GOAT debate.
Even though he sometimes uses sound logic to support his argument, fans have generally seen it as him saying this based on the feud he has with Michael Jordan.
I said this to Kevin Durant… If you would’ve played back in our era… and they took Michael Jordan out, and you played with Pippen, Kukoc… Would he have won 6 championships? Absolutely.
Isiah Thomas said on Run it Back
Again, Isiah Thomas brought out logic and statistics to back up his claims. As wild as his analogy sounds, he did point out that Kevin Durant was a better and more efficient scorer than Jordan.
"If they took MJ out… Would KD have won 6 championships? Absolutely." 🏆

He then pointed out that his rival used to play with Hall of Famers Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Toni Kukoc, among others. Had Durant been playing with them and taken as many shot attempts as Jordan did, he would be very successful.
Fans tear into Isiah Thomas for a lopsided Kevin Durant-Michael Jordan analogy
Isiah Thomas used data to suggest Kevin Durant would also have been as successful playing with the 1990s Chicago Bulls as Michael Jordan did.
But fans pointed out how the ‘Slim Reaper’ has repeatedly failed despite being surrounded by superstars. Moreover, they believe the Houston Rockets star is nowhere close to the leader Jordan was.
Therefore, fans felt that the Pistons Hall of Famer creating this analogy just based on statistics was another attempt at undermining the Bulls’ legend. Check out examples of those reactions below:
KD is generational talent but saying hed get 6 rings with the 90s bulls is peak hypothetical delusion

Being a great scorer like MJ doesn’t equate to having the same success. Durant doesn’t have the same mentality as Jordan so you can’t copy & paste a situation like that. Jordan led by example on offense AND defense. An emotional take that makes a legend sound like a casual.

Ok so what? Durant is better than IT too. Why is he so spiteful after all these years? Did playing in MJs shadows warp this man's brain permanently? It's not too late for him to play in the Olympics

Put MJ on that okc team with Harden and Russ they win 6 in a row. MJ don’t need harden to avg 30 or 40 to win

Get the hell outta here lmao. KD dont have the leadership that MJ had to will and push that team to greatness. Isaiahs hate is just putrid at this point

Let's go the other way. Would Jordan have lost game 6 at home with Prime Westbrook up 3-2 to GSW? Highly doubt it. Thunder would've won that title with Jordan instead of losing it with KD. Sorry but it's true.

It aint healthy to be this upset after all these years. Lol

This brother is the most bitter man the league ever possessed…he is obsessed with MJ.

Thomas may have thought that using the data would have been enough to support his argument, but it seems fans understand where such opinions come from, and that is simply because of his ‘beef’ with Michael Jordan.
Isiah Thomas ‘loves’ Kevin Durant passing Michael Jordan on all-time scoring list
Knowing how he feels about Michael Jordan, Run It Back’s DeMarcus Cousins then asked the former point guard how he felt about Kevin Durant overtaking his rival on the all-time scoring list.

Love it. I love it because he keeps elevating the game. It goes to a standard.
Thomas replied
When the first two words blurted out of his mouth, the others on Run it Back laughed, believing it was further proof that Thomas truly ‘hates’ the six-time champion.

"Love it."

However, the Chicago native reiterated that he was not happy just because Durant overtook Jordan, as many have done so, and that is not an indication of how he felt. Rather, he was happy for the Rockets star, as overtaking one of the greats puts him in a category of greatness that he deserves.
