ISL: Santana delivers the goal as Hyderabad beat Odisha
Hyderabad beat Odisha by a score line of 1-0 in their first match of the season in ISL. Aridane Santana delivered the crucial breakthrough for Hyderabad through a penalty. Moreover, Santana was part of Odisha FC last season and had scored 9 goals for them. However, he switched to Hyderabad this season and was the main reason behind the defeat of his former team. In addition, Hyderabad also managed to put their defensive nightmares behind and managed to keep a clean sheet for the first time in ISL.
First Half
Hyderabad started the first half strongly and created a wonderful opportunity within five minutes. However, Santana missed a free header from a beautiful corner by Sastre. Nevertheless, they continued to create more chances against Odisha and got the breakthrough from a penalty. The Odisha captain, Taylor was the culprit here as the shot by Halicharan hit his arm. Santana stepped and scored the goal this time against his former team. Moreover, Odisha were on the backfoot throughout the first half and were reliant on their goalie, Arshdeep to keep them in the game.
Second Half
Hyderabad continued in the same vein of form as in the first half and went close a couple of times. However, Odisha did get a chance to equalize though Sekar but his shot was intercepted brilliantly by Akash Mishra. Meanwhile, Hyderabad also brought in Colaco and Ralte to seal off the match but the team struggled to find the finishing touch. Nevertheless, Hyderabad will be extremely happy with the win and also of the fact that they kept their first clean sheet in ISL history.
On the other hand, Bengaluru FC will be the next opponents of Hyderabad on 28th November while Odisha go up against Jamshedpur on 29th.
