‘I’m still the king…I’m still the greatest’ – Israel Adesanya believes he is still the greatest fighter in the UFC after loss against Jan Blachowicz

Israel Adesanya suffered the first loss in his professional MMA career, as he fell to Jan Blachowicz in his light-heavyweight debut. Had the ‘Last Stylebender’ won, he would have been a two-division champion, but Izzy doesn’t regret getting his first L and maintains that he is “still the greatest” fighter in the UFC.

Speaking in an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN, Adesanya claimed that he wasn’t trying to be humble in the post-fight press conference, and that was just a true reflection of his feelings. He added that he “still is the king”.

Adesanya was quoted as saying, “I wasn’t trying to be humble. I’m just fuckin’ speaking my truth. Fuck humble. I’m not being humble. This is just what it is and how I feel. This is truly how I feel. The whole post-fight press conference is truly how I feel.”

He continued, “Nah, I tell you how it is. And if that’s how you wanna take it, sure, take it. But I never humiliate or lessen myself just because I took a loss. Fuck no. I’m still the king. I’m still the greatest. Give it time. Just give it time.”

Israel Adesanya has expressed his desire to move to the middleweight division again. He has a few opponents lined-up in his mind, and Darren Till is one among them. Izzy recently revealed that he would be willing to fight Darren Till, if the Scouse manages to beat Marvin Vettori, in the upcoming clash.

Adesanya might have lost in the light-heavyweight division, but the middleweight division belongs undoubtedly to him. And now he is hungry for one more round of middleweight division!
