Israel Adesanya reveals why he ditched his pink hair ahead of UFC 253 clash
Adesanya has now won 100 fights in his combat sporting career

If one was following the entire back and fourths between Costa and Adesanya, they would be aware of the bad blood involved in the fight. In the build-up to the grudge fight, the duo had no issue in firing shots at one another via social media. Their stare down in Abu Dhabi alone shattered all existing social media records in the UFC.

After his devastating win at UFC 253, Champion Israel Adesanya reveals why he ditched his pink hair, in the last minutes to original hair colour. He revealed the reason behind it was, his father. As it could have provided ‘Borrachinha’ with a visual aid on fight night.

Adesanya follows his dad’s advice to ditch his pink hair

Ever since Adesanya shared his new look, Costa and his fans left no stone unturned in opinionizing about their views and perhaps trolling Adesanya in all ways possible. Ahead of his title defence at UFC 253, many fans were expecting the middleweight champ to walk out with the same pink hair only for Adesanya to revert back to his no-nonsense shaved head.

But in the press conference after the fight, he revealed exactly why he chose to scalp the pink look and it had nothing to do with Costa’s opinions.

“Shout out to my dad. He said I’m going to blind him,” Adesanya said at the post-fight press conference following his masterclass performance against Costa (h/t MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin). “I’m going to blind him with my jab and when he’s compromised with one eye, and if I take the other eye out, if he sees that pink hue, he’ll still know where my head is.

“He’ll know that’s where my head is and he’ll just aim for the pink hue. I was like you’re right. Like a good boy, I listened to my dad. He’s a smart man.”

Having said that, pink hair or not Adesanya did prove what a beast he is inside the octagon at UFC 253. He is now a perfect 20-0 as a professional fighter. Defending his title twice as UFC middleweight champion. The Nigerian-New Zealander would like his next title defense to be against Jared Cannonier.
