There are many games that are created based on the real world. What if we say that we have a game created on the truths of World War 2? Yes, we do have a game which completely unveils the darkest moments that had happened in WWII. The name of such a great and legendary game is Medal Of Honor. There are many games created based on WW 2 but they do not overcome this legendary title. 

Although the game was released in the late 1990s, it still makes a spot in the gaming industry even today. The games before Medal Of Honor which were based on WW 2 don’t depict the history of WW 2 as this legendary game does.

There are a total 22 games under this legendary game, including the recent one Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. A few initial games released under this title come with great story modes that could have been very big lead to major motion pictures. Legendary film director Stephen Spielberg wrote the script for the original game. Regrettably, Medal of Honor has been witnessing a fade out in the current modern gaming industry as it has failed to evolve according to it. While the franchise has grown inactive in today’s gaming world, it has a great place in the evolving history of FPS genre games.

Several Games like Wolfenstein had been out during World War II but with a fictitious story, providing players a fun gaming experience without letting them know the exact history. The famous American Film Director,Stephen Spielberg had decided that he wanted to create an exact historical WWII game that would make younger generations understand. He is the one behind this legendary historical game. Also, he hoped that it would appeal to young gamers to understand the realities of WW 2 with an entertaining gameplay.

The developers of Medal of Honor

Initially the American Film Director had flipped the route maps of his idea about the game DreamWorks Interactive, but it was uncertain to accept such an innovative concept. And several people had thought that this game would use the dark realities of  WWII, diminishing the cruelties of war and global dissensions. Also, the officials were agitated that the release of the game would eventually become a flop. Since most of the futuristic games would turn out to be sci-fi based. However the game has finally hit the walls of the gaming industry.

The game has been given a green light in late 1999 and has amassed a great fanbase. The game had been a sensation in regions of North America and Europe. And with the sequential games released had made Medal of Honor as one of the most dominant video game franchises in the industry. The game had not taken a step back or never looked back until some developers had cut their ties with the organisation.

How did the Medal of Honor fade out in the industry?

A few of the important developers of the organisation had left due to some issues, after making Medal of Honor : Allied Assault. The game was quite a breakthrough and after that the company had fallen down. They have formed a new company, Infinity Ward, and tied up with Activision by signing an agreement with them. The new company has started working on creating a new modern military FPS game naming it Call of Duty. Call of Duty has also many games under its title just like Medal Of Honor.

The Call of Duty is quite similar to Medal of Honor with adding modern warfare and some minor upgrades. It had everything that Medal of Honor features. Ever since its release, the game has witnessed an immense popularity by providing its users a tremendous Gameplay. After being one of the top most historical games, it is seen that the most dominated World War video game is losing its age.

How is Call of Duty is Similar to Medal of Honor?

The legendary title had been in a confrontation with Activision’s new Call of Duty franchise. With the rising popularity of Call of Duty, the legendary Medal Of Honor has started to fade out. It has managed to be one of the biggest rivals to the popular FPS games. However, they have made a few tries to fit in with the modern gaming industry, but it is seen that they have failed to make a way in. With a few releases of disappointing titles in the 2000s and 2010s, the Medal of Honor has led the COD Franchise to make it to the top. 

For the unfortunate declinement of Medal of Honor game, Call of Duty is not only the whole reason for it. The series has fallen down with lack of innovation and misguidance to adapt the modern gaming trends. These are the one of the prime reasons for the downfall of ‘Medal of Honor’. They have been holding up for a long time behind the back of Call of Duty. They could not overcome this new FPS shooting genre . Even today, Call Of Duty is now treated as the most successful  FPS series of all time. But with the observations, COD would have been nowhere if there is no Medal of Honor.
