The Serbian top seed Novak Djokovic has reached the final eight if the Italian Open 2020. He is only two victories away before he reaches the final.
Novak Djokovic has made his 14th consecutive quarter finals as he won against Filip Krajinovic 7-6 (9-7), 6-3.
Novak closer to final with Nadal?
Novak Djokovic was able to dominate in the match against Filip Krajinovic. The latter caused a major upset in his opening round when he won against Felix Auger Aliassime. Yet after a tough first set, Novak left no stone unturned as he won the second set rather quickly.
Djokovic attacked Krajinovic’s forehand and tried to change the pace of rallies with drop shots during the first set. He missed two set points at 5-4 on Krajinovic’s serve. Krajinovic moved up the court to finish points and establish a 4/1 lead in the tie-break. The 33-year-old converted his fifth set point when Krajinovic committed a forehand error.
Novak further broke the compatriots serve in the second set to establish an early lead.
Novak reached his 85th ATP 1000 Masters quarter and is chasing history to win his 36th ATP Masters.
