“It’s a historic moment for me, for (all) of Poland, so it’s going to be huge.” says Blachowicz ahead of his title fight at UFC 253
With all of Poland behind his back, Jan Blachowicz aims to bring the title home just like fellow national Joanna Jędrzejczyk did. The 37-year old veteran hailing from Warsaw, Poland has been active since as early as 2007. The former KSW Light Heavyweight Champion came to UFC six years ago.
“The Prince of Cieszyn” is on a three fight win streak and will face Dominick Reyes for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight title at UFC 253 this Saturday. When asked about what it means to win the title, he replied, “It’s the biggest thing in my sportsman life you know… I’ll be happy like never.”
Blachowicz on what happens if he wins-
“It’s a historic moment for me, for (all) of Poland, so it’s going to be huge. I can’t wait to get out of the plane and go to the port and see what happens.”
Apart from that, Jan Blachowicz believes that his career path has built him up to bring the UFC belt back home with him to Poland. With 26 wins and 8 losses in his professional mixed martial arts career. The journey towards the belt was not at all easy. The Prince has been a part of the UFC for 6 years and last lost to Thiago Santos. Since then, he has beaten high profile Light Heavyweights like Luke Rockhold, Ronaldo Souza and Corey Anderson.
“6 years in the UFC and i’m finally at the top, fighting for the belt”, said Jan who waits eagerly to fight for the title.

Blachowicz fights Dominick Reyes for the vacant title after Jon Jones vacated the title to move up to Heavyweight. Jon Jones dominated the Light Heavyweight division for almost a decade. He successfully defended his title last against Dominick Reyes however, the decision was very controversial with almost 14 of 21 media outlets scored in favour of Reyes.
Both Reyes (ranked #1) and Blachowicz (ranked #3) will have the perfect chance to prove who will be the next legitimate king of the Light Heavyweight division. With Reyes’ standup and Blachowicz’s explosiveness, this bout will be a fight for the ages.
