“It’s clear as day that she doesn’t want to fight me,” says Julianna Pena responding to Amanda Nunes’ comments
Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes have been going back and forth for a while now. Looks like the tension has been building for quite some time now between the two fighters. “The Venezuelan Vixen” is not pleased with the comments made by the two-division champ.
Last Sunday, ‘The Lioness’ successfully defended her UFC featherweight title against Megan Anderson. The #6 Bantamweight fighter, Pena has been busy trying to make the fight with Nunes happen. Even Dana White revealed in the post-fight conference. But the champion seems less interested in the fight and believes that Pena needs more wins in the bag.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, Pena spoke about Amanda rejecting her. “I think that her asking me to fight Germaine de Randamie again is comical. To me, it’s clear as day she doesn’t want to fight me. She doesn’t want to fight a wrestler and a grappler,” the bantamweight fighter said.
Julianna Pena believes Amanda Nunes won’t fight her because she is stylistically superior
Pena revealed in the interview that the reason Nunes won’t fight her is that the champion is afraid of her. Pena is currently on a one-match streak having lost to Germaine a match before. “I hold the reins as the best grappler in the division,” says Pena.
“Stylistically, I’m the worst possible matchup out there for her and she knows that. So it’s just kind of frustrating that she would ask me to again fight one more. Why don’t you ever ask anybody else to fight one more? Why is it just me?” the fighter continued.
The ultimate decision though will be made by Dana White who has already hinted that he is in for the fight. And practically speaking Pena is the only fighter left that Nunes hasn’t wiped away in both the divisions.
