The World No.6, Stefanos Tsitsipas, reaped a successful string of results in the shortened year of 2020. He managed to advance to the semi-final of Roland Garros for the first time in his career. Further, the Greek reached the final rounds of Dubai Championships and German Open wherein Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev ousted him respectively.

One of the greatest moments came along for Tsitsipas was when he lifted the title of Open 13 by defeating Felix Auger Aliassime 6-3, 6-4. As the conclusion of the season neared, the 22-year-old geared up to defend the Nitto ATP Finals title that he claimed in 2019. However, Stef lost two of his three bouts, and did not make it past the round-robin stages.

Why Stefanos was so displeased

Tsitsipas acquired the least amount of wins towards the end of the season. He was vanquished in the first and second rounds of Paris Masters and Vienna Open respectively. Moreover, this dry spell continued in the year-end championships.

Whist such is the case, the Greek is back to training during the time-off. With 2021 just a handful of days away, Stef is keeping track of his diet, which is of utmost importance to most athletes.

Recently, the World No.6 expressed his shock over not finding any products that didn’t contain sugar at the mart. On Twitter, he wrote, “It’s mind blowing going to the supermarket and not being able to find a single product that doesn’t have sugar in it. That’s the world we live in!”

Tsitsipas finished 2020 with a win-loss record of 29-14. He’ll be seen on the courts at the Australian Open 2021, which is scheduled to begin from 8 February.
