‘It’s not meant to be that we face each other’ Israel Adesanya reacts to Jared Cannonier’s loss
Israel Adesanya’s proposed match up against Jared Cannonier is no longer in the picture as Cannonier faced defeat from the hands of Robert Whittaker. Now ‘The Reaper’ has a fair chance to face Adesanya once again for the championship.
Cannonier is a number two ranked opponent stepping in the fight against the former titleholder and ranked one opponent Robert Whittaker. Adesanya proposed that if Cannonier wins this fight he wants to face him next, but ‘The Reaper’ registered a win over him by UD after three rounds of the contest.
Whittaker outlasted Cannonier fairly in this match; he even threw a kick that fractured his forearm. Cannonier says, “That didn’t go exactly how I wanted to buy my spirits remain high and I’m happy with how I fought all things considered. The very first kick he threw broke or fractured by left ulna”.
“I couldn’t find my grove and adjust quickly to get the W so I’’ take my L with pride”. Cannonier shared an Instagram post saying this. Responding to a fan on Twitter Adesanya says, “Guess It’s not meant to be that we faced each other. All love to him”.
Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker 2 next?
Adesanya ended the winning streak of Paulo Costa at UFC 253 and ended the speculations that he will lose his title if he ever faced Costa. This title was snatched from Whittaker by Adesanya back in 2019.
After that, both of these guys faced a number of opponents and Adesanya has won against opponents like Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa while on the other hand, Whittaker has registered a win against Darren Till and Jared Cannonier.
Now it looks like the fate has decided to book a super matchup between these two once again. Even UFC president Dana White says, “It’s very appealing to me. It’s the fight that makes sense right now. Adesanya has a lot of options, but the fight that makes the most sense right now is Whittaker”.
