On Sunday, footage surfaced showing Cam Newton in an altercation with several people during a 7-on-7 football tournament in Atlanta. Two men involved in the incident were coach TJ and his brother Steph Brown. They claimed the altercation happened because of Newton’s relentless taunts leading up to the game.

The pair had enough of the former Carolina Panthers quarterback’s trash-talking. The skirmish began with Newton grabbing Steph first before TJ threw a punch. While appearing on 105.3 The Beat, TJ apologized for the incident.

First and foremost, what I want to do is apologize to everybody who was out there. To the parents of not just our team but everybody else, that should have never happened.
TJ told the show host

Newton appointed TJ as the head coach of one of his “C1N” 7-on-7 teams in 2020. Steph later joined after gathering experience at the college level, taking on the role of wide receivers’ coach along with being part of the offensive staff.

However, soon tension rose between the pair and the 2015 NFL MVP when TJ’s team started winning more games. Eventually, they decided to break C1N, creating a new team, the TSP.

Their inaugural game took place over the weekend at Atalanta. But TJ claimed that from the split until leading up to the game on Sunday, Newton has been on a taunting spree. It eventually led to a fierce skirmish between the two parties during the event.

Cam has an organization. It's just been a lot of trash talk. More so from his side. Just talking crazy for no reason. It's nothing new. I have been around, bro, for 5 years. This is typical Cam Newton behavior.

What led to the fight between TJ, Steph, and Cam Newton?

Several clips showed two to three people shooting and throwing punches at the former New England Patriots QB. From a viewer’s point of view, it appeared that the 35-year-old was the one on the receiving end, but TJ claimed he was the reason the fight began in the first place.

As per TJ, Newton had grabbed Steph at the top of the stairs at the venue, as the clip showed, not the other way around. He rushed to help his brother, which led to the fighting.

Steph walked up there, and I was walking over there. Cam is in Steph's face.... Then he grabs stuff. I see a 6-foot-6 guy grabbing my brother, and that's what everybody [in the clip] is seeing. Nobody was seeing, like, how he was talking trash and all.

The police and security had to intervene before any serious damage happened. Thus far, Cam Newton hasn’t released any status regarding the skirmish. He may address it in the next episode of his 4th and 1 podcast.
